On 3 July the Banking Standards Board (BSB) held its first knowledge-sharing workshop on wellbeing and resilience. Our knowledge-sharing workshops aim to enable firms to share and learn from each other’s experience in managing their culture, with a focus on practical approaches and techniques.
In 2016, the first year in which we conducted our Assessment, the personal resilience and wellbeing of employees in the banking sector was shown to be a key area of concern. Notwithstanding considerable focus on this issue within the banking sector (and more widely), the 2017 picture remained equally problematic. Just over a quarter of BSB Survey respondents said in 2017 that working in their organisation had a negative impact on their health and wellbeing; the same proportion as in 2016.
In this video Paul Litchfield, Chair of the What Works Centre for Wellbeing and until very recently Chief Medical Officer at BT, discusses his experience of wellbeing in a corporate environment.
