OUR TEAM

The FSCB team is led by CEO Alison Cottrell and the Executive Committee and, like our Board, is made up of individuals with a wide variety of skills and backgrounds, with a shared goal to work with our member firms to help raise standards of behaviour and competence in financial services.

Rosie Almond

Senior Behavioural Scientist

Rick Borges

Rick is Director of Strategy at the FSCB. He is a member of the FSCB’s ExCo and has senior responsibility for the FSCB annual Assessment of culture, behaviour and competence. Rick previously worked at the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care where he was responsible for a programme to improve standards of behaviour and competence of healthcare practitioners.

He started his career at the UK Department of Health, in the Private Office of a Minister of State, then worked for the National Information Governance Board for Health and Social Care, and in the Private Office of the Director General (DG) for NHS Informatics (as the DG’s Private Secretary).

Rick also acted as an advisor on professional standards and regulation to several organisations, including the Press Recognition Panel (set up following the Leveson Inquiry in the UK), the Government of Ontario, Canada, and the administration of Hong Kong.

Rick is the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee and Treasurer of National Voices, a coalition of 160 health and social care charities in England. He is also a member of NV’s Audit and Risk Committee. He has a Masters in law (LLM) and a postgraduate diploma in law in the UK.

Laura Conaghan

Laura is Head of External Relations at the FSCB overseeing the organisation’s relations with the press and a range of external stakeholders.

Laura was a journalist at Bloomberg for six years, before moving into communications in a variety of roles in the public and private sector.

Her career has included stints working at the House of Commons, in financial services and for consultancies. She originally studied English Literature and has an MSc in History of International Relations.

Laura volunteers at a local school and is a member of the FSCB Charity Committee.

Kate Coombs

Kate is Head of Insights at the FSCB and a member of the Executive Committee. Her work primarily involves designing and testing empirically grounded behavioural interventions with member firms to improve their culture.

Prior to joining the FSCB, Kate worked for the FCA’s behavioural economics and data science team, specialising in research relating to organisational behaviour.

Kate holds an MSc in Cognitive and Decision Sciences, a BSc in Experimental Psychology and is also an alumnus of the Teach First graduate programme.

Alison Cottrell

Alison Cottrell is CEO of the Financial Services Culture Board and took up her role in April 2015 when the organisation was launched. Alison began her career in the City of London as an economist covering international fixed income and currency markets. She joined HM Treasury in 2001, becoming Director of Financial Services in 2009 with responsibility for a wide range of policy areas including bank lending, payments, competition and pensions guidance. She combined this role for the three years to 2014 with that of Director of Corporate Services, focusing in particular on staff development, engagement and culture.

Michael Gardiner

Michael is Senior Data Scientist at the FSCB, overseeing statistical methodology and data visualisation of the survey analyses.

Michael trained as an economist before moving into the Data Science space.

Michael is currently studying for an MSc in Applied Statistics.

Julie Hardcastle

Julie is Executive Assistant to the Chair at the FSCB and the Head of Marketing, Digital and Communications.

Julie previously worked for architects, lawyers and regulators, both within the private and public sectors and, prior to that, owned her own retail business.

Julie is an animal lover and supporter of homeless dog charities and wildlife rehabilitation.

Anita Heaviside

Anita is the Head of Membership at the FSCB overseeing member relations and ensuring that members receive the best value from their membership.

Anita has over 20 years’ experience working in financial services and the payments industry and was previously Head of Member Services for UK Finance. Prior to this, she was Head of Member Services and Board Secretary for Payments UK. During her time working in the payments industry, she has undertaken a wide variety of roles in industry governance, development of payment strategy and policy and running external stakeholder user groups.

In her early career she worked in the public sector as an external auditor where she trained as an accountant.

Amy Huntley

Amy is Head of Marketing, Digital and Communications at the FSCB and a member of the Executive Committee. Amy oversees all internal and external published content and communications, the website, social media and the FSCB’s events programme. Amy worked on the creation of the original BSB brand in 2015 and led on its evolution in 2021 into the FSCB. Amy also works closely with the Board on all aspects of its work with the executive team and in its role to represent the organisation externally.

Amy trained as a legal editor and copywriter, working for ten years editing print content across a range of sectors including law, advertising and tech for both corporate and public audiences before moving into the digital space, specialising in legacy website transformation, branding and design.

Amy has an MA in English Literature.

Lelde Leoke

Lelde is an Assessment Manager at the FSCB, analysing the data that is collected during the annual Assessment exercise, authoring reports, contributing to the improvements to the Assessment, and engaging with the member firms during the whole cycle of the Assessment process, including the operational preparations, as well as the interpretation and communication of the results.

Prior to the FSCB, Lelde spent four years working in the banking sector in a range of roles and business areas (Retail, Commercial Banking and Investment Banking, and both in client-facing and support roles), before founding a business in computer animation.

Lelde graduated with a first class degree in BSc (Hons) Banking, Finance and Management from Loughborough University, and has passed Level 1 of CFA Diploma.

Di Lindley

Di is Head of Operations and a member of the FSCB Executive Committee. Di manages the business support team and oversees the running of the day-to-day functions of the office.

Prior to her role at the FSCB, Di worked for Ofcom since its inception in 2003 and various consultancy firms including Pricewaterhouse, Ernst & Young, Booz.Allen, and Spectrum Strategy.

Di is a converted animal lover ever since she got her Beagle puppy called Bentley.

Karen Moore

Karen is the Director of Operations at FSCB responsible for the day-to-day running of FSCB as well as the subsidiary, Working Culture Ltd. A member of the ExCo and Company Director of Working Culture Ltd, she leads on all governance aspects encompassing finance, technology, HR, legal and risk management.

Prior to joining FSCB, Karen was a Managing Director at Standard Chartered Bank leading and transforming global and regional teams in client implementation and service management, operational risk, audit and the CEO office. Karen is a qualified Chartered Accountant from PwC in Audit and Management Consulting. She has also worked in the Charity sector as Operations Director and Company Secretary, and provided leadership mentoring, strategic and operational guidance for a social enterprise and a local charity during the COVID lockdowns.

Outside work, Karen is involved in global charitable causes particularly championing women in developing countries.

Aisling Moroney

Aisling is Executive Assistant to the Director of Operations and Head of Insights, and provides general business support to the Insights Team.

Aisling gained extensive administrative experience in a variety of areas before joining the FSCB in 2017 and progressing within the company.

Chloe Nash

Chloe is the IT Manager at the FSCB. Chloe manages the IT infrastructure for the organisation, she is responsible for maintaining and recommending new strategies and solutions to support applications for business-critical operations. Accountable for cross-functional delivery of all core business systems, resources and technologies to support the dynamic business needs of our growing organisations, in relation to IT and Information security.

Chloe also provides project support to key FSCB communications and events activities, and works on the day-to-day running of the FSCB website.

Chloe joined the FSCB in 2016 and previously worked in the Assessment, Insights and Business Support teams as a team and business wide administrator.

Chloe is a proud member of the FSCB Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Olivia Olivarius

Olivia is a Behavioural Scientist with a People Management and Development background. She has worked across various sectors in a range of HR roles. Olivia discovered behavioural science during her work in HR and decided to return to University to undertake a MSc in Behavioural Science for Management. Since then she has worked in academia and undertaken consultancy work, before joining the FSCB. She is passionate about harnessing behavioural insights to improve working lives.

Megan Skingle

Megan is a Team Administrator as well as Personal Assistant to the Director of Strategy. Megan joined the FSCB in 2019 and continues to work closely with numerous member firms.

Before joining the FSCB, Megan was a Clinical Governance Administrator for a leading health care recruitment company.

Hilary Viney

Hilary is a Senior Analyst at the FSCB. Prior to arriving at the FSCB Hilary was a senior member of the Behavioural Unit at ASIC, Australia’s financial services regulator. In this role Hilary provided evidence-based consumer policy and applied behavioural science advice to improve outcomes for consumers and markets. She was also involved in onsite reviews of customer dispute resolution at 6 of Australia’s largest financial institutions and provided specialist advisory support to ASIC’s Superannuation (pensions) team.

Hilary is currently completing a MSc Psychology of Economic Life at LSE, holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney and has passed the CFA Level 1.

Nick Wainwright

Nick Wainwright is the Head of Data Science and Assessment at the FSCB, overseeing the team’s work of analysing data from its annual assessment of culture as well as external data sources to draw insights that help firms across the sector understand and improve standards of behaviour and competence.

Prior to working at the FSCB, Nick worked as a Senior Operational Researcher at Acas (Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service), carrying out quantitative and qualitative research to evaluate the impact of its work, and carrying out data modelling to help improve the way services were delivered. He holds a Masters degree in Mathematical Trading and Finance from Bayes Business School and a Bachelors degree in International Finance and Capital Markets Studies.

Yuwei Zhang

Yuwei is a Senior Data Scientist at the FSCB. Yuwei analyses the unique and growing dataset the BSB gathers on behaviour and culture using multiple techniques including applying textual analysis to structure and exploring free text responses from the banking population, and developing methods to visualise findings.

Yuwei has an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics.
